About Us

Peters and Moriarty, PC, formerly Peters and Ploetz, was founded in 1986 by Ross A. Peters and Ronald D. Ploetz.  Ross Peters passed away in May 2011; he was well respected as an attorney and friend. Ron Ploetz accepted a position as Cattaraugus County Judge, a term that began January 1, 2013. As a result position, he no longer practices as an attorney.

Kathleen Moriarty Fleming grew up in Buffalo, New York but spent most weekends in Ellicottville with her family. After receiving her M.Ed. in secondary mathematics, she taught for two years at Canisius High School in Buffalo and spent another two years teaching at a charter school in Denver, Colorado. She then pursued her J.D. at the University of Buffalo Law School, graduating in May 2010 and moved to Ellicottville in September 2011 to take over for the late Ross Peters.

Jackie Winship is our Real Estate Paralegal; she has almost thirty years of paralegal experience and is one of the most knowledgeable professionals in her field.  Her day to day interactions with real estate agents, title companies and the Catt. Co. Clerk’s Office create invaluable relationships.  Jackie is well-versed in handling real estate transactions in Cattaraugus and surrounding counties, as well as transfers involving the Seneca Nation of Indians and FIRPTA.
